Regular Service
Provides comprehensive client-centered, professional and skilled services to infants, children, youth and families, and adults with a developmental disability. Addresses social, emotional, behavioral, physical and developmental difficulties. Improves the well-being of individuals, families and the community through clinically effective partnerships.

Support to adults with a developmental disability living independently in the community. Also provides support to adults living in their parental home who wish to learn the skills required to move to a more independent setting. Offers individualized and community support and advocacy to inspire people to live a good, wholesome and fulfilling life in their community.

Offers weekly 5-pin bowling through the fall/winter/spring months. Other programs can be started based on volunteer availability.

Programs for individuals who experience disabilities and their families.

Offers group living, supported Independent Living programs and recreational activities.

Provide services and supports to people with developmental / intellectual disabilities and their families. Focus on community inclusion in all aspects of community life.

Children's Services provide support for families to obtain services and advocate for their children including:

• Resource Teacher Program for families with children ages 2 to 6
• Family Support Program for families with children ages 6 to 18

Adult Services include:

• self-help supports
• communication skills
• community awareness
• social and academic skills
• recreation and leisure
• employment skills

Adult residential support is offered in several settings through people's own homes, group homes and the Supported Independent Living Program.

Offers children, families and adults, including transitional-aged youth, who have a developmental disability the supports they require to be engaged in their community as fully as they choose.

Supports are individualized, and based on interests and abilities, and may include:

• Skill building
• Leisure activities
• Learning, including options for post secondary education
• Social activities
• Volunteering
• Work, and other activities directed by individual choice

Provides community based support and services for persons with an intellectual and/or developmental disability and their families including:

• Children's Respite Coordination
• Community Participation Supports
• Foundations Transitional Program
• Group Living
• Passport Services
• Supported Independent Living

• Supports individuals with developmental disabilities by helping them find and participate in meaningful activities
• Offers a variety of daytime activities throughout the week that include learning workshops, training, and coaching
• Determines each person's needs and interests to help them achieve their goals and develop independence

Activities can include:

• life skills development, such as cooking, meal planning, grocery shopping, budgeting, and household cleaning and laundry
• employment skills, such as resume writing, job searching and coaching
• health, safety, and wellness
• volunteer opportunities
• educational sessions
• recreational and social activities, such as games, community outings, music, and creative arts

Helps families who have a family member that has a developmental disability through the following programs:

• Developmental Support Services for Adults
• Passport Program

Helps families who have a family member that has a developmental disability through the following programs:

• Community Network of Specialized Care of Ontario (CNSC-O) - North Region
• Developmental Services Ontario - North East Region
• Developmental Support Services for Adults
• Passport Program

Programs include residential and community participation supports:

• Two group homes in Powassan.
• Enhanced Support Independent Living Program in Sundridge
• Supported Independent Living Program provides regular support to individuals living on their own in the community.
• Community Work Experience provides employment supports and guidance including job training, job placement and assessment. Individuals supported by Almaguin Highlands may be hired to do basic property maintenance such as grass cutting, raking and simple gardening, or snow shoveling
• Community Participation Program- helps individuals access recreational and leisure opportunities within their communities. Also provides assistance in the areas of personal management, social development, household management, basic academic skills, service and community awareness
• Passport Program- Administration of Passport Funds, taking care of all paperwork and recouping directly from the Passport program AHCL can aid in navigating these funds in two ways: Either by brokering services from outside qualified contract workers or by directly providing services through internal resource. This program helps adults access recreational activities within their communities and provides additional respite to care givers.
• Family Support Services Program provides assistance to families with a child under age 18 who has intellectual disabilities. Information on developmental delays, community resources, support counselling, government programs. Referral to appropriate resources. Assistance with applications and advocacy. Financial assistance
• Respite Program for adults and children
• Family Home for adults
• Transitions assists youth and young adults with an intellectual disability in transitioning from school to life and as adults in the community

Works to improve and implement services to enhance the lives of children and young adults living with special needs

Provides a variety of non-medically based support services to assist people with physical disabilities, including:

• Attendant Care Supportive Housing
• Attendant Outreach
• Enhanced Congregate Care
• Loan Out Cupboard
• Post-Stroke Rehabilitation Program
• Transition to Home Program

• Operates an alternative learning centre for adults with special needs
• Promotes a flexible, adaptive, and inclusive community-based program
