Vulnerable Victims and Family Fund

Provides financial and court-based supports to enable victims of crime and families of homicide victims to attend court, including:

• Real-time captioning or other equipment for victims with disabilities

• Offers individual, couple and family counselling

Abuse Counselling

• Offers individual and group counselling

Sexual Abuse Counselling (for women only)

• Offers education, group therapy, and one-on-one counselling

• Provides free legal advice and assistance to low income earners
• Offers representation in a court or at a tribunal, such as the Social Benefits Tribunal or the Landlord and Tenant Board
• Assists with preparing documents, such as an application to the Landlord and Tenant Board

• Canada Pension Plan (CPP and CPP Disability)
• Housing law for tenants and co-op members only
• Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)

• Operates an emergency women's shelter
• Manages a crisis support line

• Intake assessment to determine appropriate services and referrals

• dental care
• aids for victims with disabilities
• interpretation services
• crime scene cleanup
• government/medical documents
• funeral expenses

Additional assistance for victims of human trafficking includes:

• storage locker
• tattoo removal
• treatment at a recovery facility

Note: No direct reimbursement to victims for above supports

Financial support also available for:

• victims who sustained serious physical injuries during a crime
• parents of child homicide victims
• spouses of homicide victims

Provides public education, Alternative Dispute Resolution and counselling services

Intake and Assessment

• Assesses individuals needs and refers to appropriate agency program
• Provides referrals to other community resources when the agency is unable to assist

Member agency of Support Services Network for Male Survivors in Ontario (North Region)

• Offers a 12 week group education and counselling program on domestic violence and non-abusive ways of resolving conflict
• Offers victims/partners of the offender support including safety planning, referrals to community resources and information on offender's progress

Assists Indigenous Peoples who are in conflict with the criminal justice system

• Works with parents or families in the case of a child apprehension by Children's Aid Society, to ensure that all proper steps are taken to protect the child and if possible to reunite the family
• Provides counselling, referrals, follow-up and encouragement to offenders to become contributing members of the community
• Provides guidance, support, advocacy, and helps clients understand their rights and responsibilities under the law

• Provides culturally appropriate programs and services to address needs of elderly Aboriginal people with chronic illness and/or any form of disability

Telephone Health Advisory Service

• Provides access to a registered nurse that provides advice about urgent health care concerns
• Offers the opportunity to have family doctor receive a written summary of the call

Operates as a program under the Healing and Wellness Branch

• Developed as a new program aimed at supporting healthy and whole Métis families
• Works to reduce family violence, the number of youth involved in the justice system and the number of children in care
• Focus is on providing direct one-on-one client services and educational resources and family wellness planning

• Assisting children and youth to foster self-identity and to develop life skills
