• Prevents children from becoming at-risk because of certain conditions such as family violence, poverty, abuse, neglect and unhealthy living conditions by offering information and education on effective parenting and good life teachings
• Promotes healthier child development through early childhood interventions including information sessions on pre-parenting preparation and child development
• Provides information on children's nutrition, injury prevention, and child mental health

Provides public education and information in the areas of:

• Developmental needs of infants, toddlers and pre school aged children

• Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE) and Fetal Smoking Syndrome

Programs include:

Culture Group

• Provides a weekly group session for working on various Native crafts, handiwork and regalia

Healthy Parent Group

• Provides education and information about child health care such as teething, discipline, child development and sexual issues
• Provides childcare during sessions

Moms and Tots

• Facilitates a variety of activities for mothers and tots to interact with other moms and children
• Provides a lunch for participants

Parent Relief

• Provides a respite period for parents for any reason
• Offers a snack and lunch for children in attendance

Playgroup

• Coordinates and supervises physical activities, games, stories and crafts
• Teaches simple school readiness sessions

Support and Security Program

• Offers workshops and information sessions to address concerns for new parents about the first year of a child's life
• Provides childcare during sessions

Variety Afternoon

Offers a variety of short term programs on a rotation that can include:

• Bun In the Oven, a program for pregnant women that teaches about healthy nutrition
• Community Kitchen, a cooking session that brings 5 to 6 families together to learn about good nutrition and to cook a meal together which is taken home by each family
• Hang Out Days, a program for new parents that offers open discussion with older parents to talk about concerns with child rearing
• Nutrition Bingo, a bingo game that offers healthy foods as prizes in place of money

Formerly Community Care Access Centre

Access to health care support at home or in the community

• Assists clients to plan and make informed choices about managing their health care needs or those of someone they care for
• Coordinates information about other services available within the community and links them with these services when appropriate
• Determines access to health care services provided in the home
• Determines admission to Long Term Care Facilities (homes for the aged, nursing homes)
• Determines access to health support services provided in schools for children with special needs
• Maintains an ongoing waiting list

Palliative care services offered ONLY via phone; Friendly visiting volunteer services cancelled due to Covid-19 until further notice 

Coordinates services and support of volunteers who offer companionship and support to individuals and families with a chronic or life-limiting illness

• Recruits and screens volunteers willing to donate time with palliative care patients
• Matches volunteers with clients on a one-on-one basis
• Provides a 30-hour training course for volunteers
• Promotes services and educates member communities about the benefits of Palliative Care volunteers
• Accepts donations and issues charitable donation receipts; must specify which community the donation is directed to

Friendly visiting volunteer services provided include:

• Respite care for caregivers
• Assistance with shopping, making phone calls, writing letters, getting to appointments, and community outings
• Bedside support
• Support in home, hospital, or long term care facility

Offers palliative care coordination in following communities:

Operates as a program under the Healing and Wellness Branch

• Provides information, advocacy and support to assist individuals to remain in their homes as long as possible
• Acts as respite for informal caregivers such as extended family

Community Support Services offered include:

• Caregiver support
• Case management
• Friendly visiting
• Service arrangement and coordination
• Transportation for medical appointments within Kenora and/or assistance with medical appointment arrangements
• Visiting for social and safety reasons, either in person or on the phone

Operates as a program under the Healing and Wellness Branch

• Developed as a new program aimed at supporting Indigenous seniors to remain in their own homes as long as possible
• Aims to improve the quality of life of community seniors and to help reduce the stress felt by the family and caregivers
• Provides education and information related to health and well-being
• Acts as a resource and respite for family members who are caring for an elderly loved one

Services provided can include but are not limited to the following:

• Assistance with personal care such as bathing
• Home support with light housekeeping, laundry and meal preparation
• Friendly visits to help with loneliness 
• Assistance with coordination of contracted services for lawn care and snow removal
• Transportation/accompaniment to medical appointments and for errands such as banking and grocery shopping

Provides health care services for ill, injured or elderly community members in their own homes

Provides the following services through personal support workers, homemakers and home support worker:

• Assessment to determine individuals health history and develop a personalized care plan
• Case management to ensure that care plans are being carried out and that the plan developed is still suitable
• Basic home care nursing duties
• Personal care help with activities such as dressing and bathing
• Teaching the individual in need to care for themselves
• Home support with light housekeeping, laundry and meal preparation
• Respite for family members and caregivers
• Help with light outdoor/yardwork such as firewood, garbage disposal, water delivery and snow and lawn maintenance

Provides periodic, short-term breaks to families with a member residing in the home with physical and/or developmental disabilities

In-Home Respite

• Provides respite to families in Dryden who have children or youth living in the family home with developmental disabilities or on-going medical conditions
• Offers a varied number of hours depending on needs of family, amount of funding available and availability of respite through other services; hours may be taken throughout the week, overnight or weekends

Planned Out-of-Home Respite

• Provides funding to parents of high needs children with multiple special needs to assist them in hiring respite workers
• Allows the child/youth to participate in local activities, school etc while providing a break for the family

• Provides short-term personal support and homemaking assistance for individuals with physical disabilities for a fee

Personal support can include the following:

• Banking/Shopping
• Dressing/Undressing
• Exercise
• Housekeeping
• Laundry
• Management skills such as handling personal finances, using community resources etc
• Meal Preparation
• Overnight/Respite
• Personal hygiene
• Transferring

• Assessment to determine individuals health history and develop a personalized care plan
• Case management to ensure that care plans are being carried out and that the plan developed is still suitable
• Home care nursing duties
• Access to medical supplies and equipment
• Personal care help with activities such as dressing and bathing
• Basic or advanced practice foot care
• Teaching the individual in need to care for themselves
• Home support with light housekeeping, laundry and meal preparation
• Respite for family members and caregivers
• Help with light outdoor/yardwork

Provides health care services for ill, injured or elderly community members in their own homes

Provides the following services through personal support workers, homemakers and home support worker:
