Breast screening for early detection of breast cancer in women

• Provides clinical breast exam performed by a specially trained nurse
• Conducts mammograms (x-ray of the breast)
• Teaches how to perform self-examinations

Note: Screening can include a physical breast examination by a specially trained nurse and two-view mammography where screening results are sent to both the patient and her doctor

Note: Individuals who receive normal results are automatically recalled for their next screening appointment. Individuals with abnormal results are referred back to their doctor for further investigation, or are referred directly for additional tests

Provides specialized outpatient health care services to those living with, and those affected by, HIV

Offers multidisciplinary health care services, including:

• Case management
• Information regarding HIV medications
• Nursing care and support
• Nutrition and diet counselling
• Research studies
• Specialized medical care and lab testing
• Supportive counselling

Note: Offers consultation and education regarding HIV care for health care providers

• Operates a volunatry, short-term residential program to support individuals experiencing a mental health and/or an addictions crisis
• Stabilizes the individual and provides referrals to community agencies for longer term recovery

Helps individuals with the following:

• Dealing with legal issues
• Dealing with mental health issues
• Entering drug or alcohol treatment
• Locating housing
• Managing crisis situations
• Managing medical conditions

• Provides specialized services to parents and families of children who have been diagnosed as having blindness or low vision
• Offers skills development and life skills services to children as well as intervention, education and support services to families
• Offers assistance and support to staff in early learning centres to ensure proper inclusion and supports are offered

North Bay Regional Health Centre is the lead agency and provides the coordination of the Northeast Ontario Blind Low Vision Early Intervention Program

• Provides Stage 1 hearing screening for newborn infants
• Provides audiology services for those who are deemed high risk for hearing loss and/or have a referral to the program
• Offers communication development intervention through auditory verbal therapists, sign language instructors, speech language pathology services or a combination of the above mentioned services
• Offers family support services

North Bay Regional Health Centre is the lead agency for the Northeast Infant Hearing Program (IHP) and provides Regional Training and Coordination of all the Northeast IHP screeners

• Provides outreach services to individuals both in the community and in long-term care homes
• Consults and advocates with other health services
• Assesses an individual's emotional, behavioural, functional, social, and physical health

Seeks to address behaviours related to any of the following health issues:

• Addictions
• Dementia
• Mental Health issues
• Neurological disorders

• Operates a medically supervised out-patient program for people with heart problems
• Offers educational sessions on heart healthy living, exercise training and counselling
• Provides individuals with a case manager who will tailor the program to meet their needs

Helps individuals with the following:

• Recover after a heart attack or heart surgery
• Prevent future hospital stays and heart problems
• Address risk factors that lead to coronary artery disease and other health problems, including diabetes, smoking, lack of physical activity and obesity
• Adopt healthy lifestyle changes and improve their health

Offers individual and group counselling as well as outpatient treatment services for youth, adults, and family members with drug, alcohol, and/or gambling problems

Allows individuals experiencing drug or alcohol addictions to receive counselling, appropriate addiction medications, and connections to community treatment programs

Services available include:

• Assessment of substance use concerns and review of treatment options
• Brief individual counseling and psychotherapy
• Management of acute alcohol and opioid withdrawal
• Outpatient tapering off for patients on opioids or benzodiazepines
• Medication assisted treatment for alcohol, opioid and cannabis use disorders
• Education on overdose prevention and use of naloxone
• Referral to community supports and treatment programs
• Reintegration support for patients who have completed residential treatment

Provides community-based out-patient assessment and treatment services to adolescents and young adults to help them better understand and manage psychotic illness

• Offers counselling and treatment services for individuals who have mental health concerns or have been diagnosed with a mental illness

Provides group-based therapy for individuals who are experiencing:

• Bi-Polar Disorder
• Depression
• Generalized Anxiety Disorders
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
• Social Anxiety

• Operates a community-based mental health care team that supports individuals living with serious mental illness
• Provides individualized treatment, support, and rehabilitation to individuals who have trouble engaging with other mental health services
• Supports individuals in their recovery to help them stay in their home

Offers both individual and group services that focus on:

• Employment
• Improved housing
• Improved symptom management
• Life skills
• Recreational and social opportunities

Provides immediate care for emergency situations, including serious or life-threatening illnesses or injuries
