• Apprenticeship support (financial and training assistance)

• Financial support/wage subsidies and opportunity through a number of programs which may vary by office locations; programs are listed on website
• Mobility assistance
• Self-employment coaching assistance such as business plan and accounting information and access to computers, photocopiers and other equipment
• Services for clients with disabilities

• Provides a variety of services to assist individuals with career choices, training, educational paths and employment readiness
• Works with employers to assist in securing suitable employees for their vacant positions
• Provides a comprehensive resource centre, Anokiiwin Job Connect, with computers, job boards, labour market information and education/training resources

• Job search support

Provides employment and training services for job seekers and employers

Job seeker services include the following:

• Individual or group employment counselling
• Support, information and publications on career planning
• Workshops and online information for writing resumés, cover letters and interview skills
• Assistance with online job registration and posting documents for job advertisements
• Job alert notifications sent to job seekers email address
• Maintenance of updated list of employers and supplying individuals with all posting positions

Employer services include individualized employer support from job posting through to hiring of qualified employee(s) and consist of:

• Employer Toolkit including history and culture of Treaty #3, benefits of hiring Aboriginal employees and a support committee to handle all human resource issues
• Online job posting website
• Assistance with registering vacant job positions
• Cost efficient method of recruiting for job vacancies
• Storage of data in electronic files

Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community

• Works closely with Wasaw Enterprises, a for-profit corporation focused on sustainable and effective small and large project management in Northern Ontario
• Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills
• Responsible for working with the Lands and Resource department for development of plans for the use of traditional lands for community members
• Works to access funding for band-owned business ventures
• Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business
• Maintains local business directory

• Possible development of an Eco Tourism Lodge
• Discussions with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry concerning formalization of co-management of a campsite on Crown Land at Boffin Lake
• Signing of a cooperation agreement with the Region 1 Métis Nation of Ontario regarding Mitaanjigamiing's Treaty Land Entitlement Claim
• Forest industry activities
• Representation in the Rainy Lake Tribal Development Limited Partnership
• Board member representative on Grand Council Treaty #3 Trapper's Board

Initiatives Seine River First Nation (SRFN) is involved with include:

• Construction of a community recreation infrastructure project (2002) including an outdoor skating rink, baseball field, and seating system
• A signed (winter 2012) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Minfocus Exploration Corp regarding exploration activity on SRFN traditional territory
• A signed MOU (May 2010) and Participation Agreement (Apr 2012) with Rainy River Resources/New Gold for the construction of a power line and development/operation of a gold mine located approx 65 km NW of Fort Frances
• Implementation of a five-year tourism plan with the proposed building of a community multi-purpose centre; SRFN awarded a million dollar Northern Ontario Heritage Fund grant in early 2014 for the centre
• Participation in the "Alliance" with other Indigenous communities, municipalities and other Northern leaders and organizations, formed in Jan 2018 to promote forestry and to defend shared forestry interests and lands in Northern and rural Ontario
• Aug 19, 2019 announcement - $1.15 million in federal gov't funding for economic development in Seine River First Nation; funds allocated for building a new 8,000 sq ft multi-use centre designed to offer business services and training programs, host gatherings, and provide space for commercial operations with remaining funds for fishing camp upgrades to boost tourism including repairs to the camp's electrical system and boathouse, and enhancements to its cabins, docks, and water and wastewater treatment systems

Community Futures Program

• Supports 24 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) in Northern Ontario, providing an array of business and counselling services, as well as financial assistance to not-for-profit corporations and small and medium-sized businesses in Northern Ontario

• Provides support to Francophone communities for their economic development projects

• May offer equity investments when financing from other sources is insufficient
