Addictions Services Initiative

Search Agency Service
Description
  • Provides services for Ontario Works (OW) participants with addictions to alcohol, illicit drugs and/or prescription drugs
  • Focuses on providing support in overcoming individual barriers to employment through treatment
  • Coordinates and facilitates related workshops
  • Provides transportation of clients participating in either the Addictions Services Initiative (ASI) program or an employment support activity
  • Works on the Harm Reduction philosophy and on the Stages of Change plan to support each person at individual stages on their road to recovery
Provides the following services:
  • Assessment to determine the best path to recovery, self sufficiency and well being
  • Intensive case management
  • Assistance in identifying education, vocational/career goals and help with developing a plan to achieve short and long term goals
  • Referrals to other agencies such as Wiikwemkoong Health Services, Manitoulin Withdrawal Program and other mental health/treatment programs
  • Support services during external treatment process and aftercare phase
Eligibility
Members of Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory

Must be:
  • Ontario Works (OW) participants currently on benefits and
  • Struggling with alcohol, illicit drugs and/or prescription drug addictions
