- Description
- Nursing station providing basic medical and health care services that promote physical and mental health for community members
- Coordinates health care services through the Nursing Station; health team consists of Community Health representatives, visiting Physicians and Home Care workers
- Provides services of visiting physicians several days per week through a contract agreement with Independent First Nations Alliance (IFNA) and Anton Meyers Doctors (AMDOCS)
- Provides dentist and dental hygienist services once per month through a visiting dentist
- Provides vision care services through a visiting optometrist
- Provides health awareness and counselling, education and prevention workshops/clinics in areas that may include Child Care, Diabetes, Elderly & Chronic Disease, Immunization, Sexual Health and Communicable Diseases
- Treatment of on-going health problems
- Emergency services
- Advocacy on behalf of individual with other health professionals
- Coordination of one-on-one pre-natal care with the community health nurse
- Home visits to the sick, elderly, new mothers and persons with health care needs
- Assistance with coordinating local and long distance travel arrangements for medical appointments
