Women's Services for Sexual Abuse Survivors


Description
Provides individual and group treatment for women who are survivors of recent or past sexual abuse

Group Therapy
  • Offers a non-threatening group atmosphere of support and healing
  • Teaches survivors how to face and overcome the effects of abuse
  • Offers referrals to psychiatric clinic and/or other services
Individual Counselling
  • Helps survivors deal with and overcome the effects of sexual abuse and assault
  • Offers assertiveness training
  • Provides referral to psychiatric clinics
  • Consults with doctors
  • Offers co-ordination with other social services and community agencies
  • Offers assistance with asserting individual rights and accessing other services

Eligibility
Women 16 years of age and older who have suffered from recent or past sexual abuse
Application Process
  • Referrals are accepted from self-referral, physicians, hospitals, friends, family, and police
  • Counselling sessions are offered on an individual and group basis
