- Description
- Provides a home-delivered nourishing meal to individuals who are unable to prepare a meal on their own
- Prepares meals according to individuals' diet requirements (includes hot soup and a hot entrée consisting of meat, starch, two types of vegetables and cold dessert)
- Delivers meals through volunteers who provide regular social contact and check on the health and safety of the client
- Offers volunteer opportunities for adults, service groups, corporate volunteers and students as drivers or servers
- Comments
- Individuals may receive meals a maximum of five days/week or a minimum of two days/week
- Eligibility
- Individuals 18 years of age and older who are unable to prepare adequate and nourishing meals on a day-to-day basis due to chronic illness or convalescence, lack of strength, skill, motivation, or cooking facilities
- Individuals who do not have anyone else in the household able to help prepare meals
- Individuals must be able to feed themselves, manage on weekends and be home to receive the meal
- Respite care for family caregivers
- Volunteers: 18 years and older
- Application Process
- Referral and application can be made by anyone (relative, friend, the prospective client, social worker, nurse, doctor)
