05Jan2022 - The Centre will be closed until further notice - River Street Café remains open for curbside pick up take out orders (between 11am-2pm, Mon-Fri)
 
  • As of  January 4, 2022, the old vaccine certificates (without the QR code) will no longer be accepted.  The enhanced vaccine certificates that include the QR code will be necessary to access settings where proof of vaccination is required
 
  • Starting Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021 in accordance with Ontario Regulation 645/21, before entering one of the City's indoor recreation facilities, patrons must provide proof of identification and proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including the 14-day waiting period). Vaccination receipts may be shown electronically or in hard copy. Proof documents will not be retained or recorded in any way and must be provided at every visit.
  • Every individual who enters the Centre needs to be screened for COVID-19.  Screening can be done online up to 2 hours prior to entry. Visit the following website to screen:https://forms.thunderbay.ca/Older-Adults-COVID-19-Screening-Tool.  Proof of screening required upon entry
  • Masks will be required to enter the building and must be worn in all public areas, but may be removed for fitness classes once in the space
  • River St. Café, The Library, Gift Shop, Billiard Room and Puzzle Exchange cupboard have reopened
  • 55 Plus programs have resumed as of September 13, 2021

Operates a community centre for older adults that offers various recreational and educational programs and services

Activities and services include the following:
  • River Street Cafe
  • Registered programs such as fitness, visual arts, computer lessons, and guitar lessons
  • Drop-in activities such as card games, line dancing, and recreational sports such as badminton and pickleball
  • Income Tax Clinic (Apr and May)
  • Health and Wellness programs such as blood pressure clinic (once a month), and Hearing Screening
  • Provides space rental

The Centre will be closed December 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 and January 3, and will re-open January 4, 2022

Eligibility
Married couples: only one spouse needs to be 55 or over and regularly participate in order for the younger spouse to be eligible to participate
