Description
  • Delivers justice services programs to assist individuals fulfill legal obligations imposed by the justice system
  • Provides placement programs and restorative justice programs which aim to help adults and youth become contributing members of society
Community Service OrdersProvides placements and monitoring services in the non-profit sector for individuals of all ages who have been ordered by the court to perform community services
Extrajudicial Sanctions
  • Provides an effective response to less serious youth crime outside the court process, in a timely and effective manner
  • Holds youth accountable for their offending behaviour and provides meaningful consequences
Youth Justice Committee
  • Provides a restorative justice program led by community volunteers
  • Assists youth who have committed minor offences to be accountable for their actions
  • Brings together all parties, offenders, victims and families, to talk about what happened, why, how it made them feel and what can be done to repair the harm and prevent recurrences
  • Encourages victim involvement and promotes community healing and reparation
Direct Accountability
  • Provides an alternative to prosecution for adults who have been charged with a minor criminal offence
  • Accused persons are held accountable for their actions through community-based sanctions
