GOVA Plus Specialized Transit


Description
  • Offers a low cost, door-to-door transportation service for people with disabilities that prevent them from using the conventional transit system
  • Provides specialized accessible buses that include low floors to replace steps, automated wheelchair ramps, fold up seats for mobility devices, auditory stop call-out and visual display screens, and priority seating
Services can be used for the following trip purposes:
  • Work
  • School
  • Medical
  • Other outings such as shopping, social, or church
Comments
All trips must be booked at least two working days in advance, and can be booked up to 30 days in advance
Bookings: Cancellations:
  • 705-670-2300 - as far in advance as possible or not later than 7:30 am on the day of the booked ride to avoid Late Cancellation infractions
Eligibility
Eligibility is determined by the information provided on the application form and, in some cases, the recommendation of an independent qualified Eligibility Assessment Advisor There are 3 levels of eligibility, including:
  • Unconditional Eligibility - individuals whose level of disability prevents them form using the conventional transit system
  • Conditional Eligibility - individuals with a disability where environmental or physical barriers limit their ability to consistently use the conventional transit system
  • Temporary Eligibility - individuals with a disability that temporarily prevents them from using the conventional transit system; Temporary Eligibility is also available to approved out-of-town visitors
If, after applying, the service is not used over a 12 month period, eligibility automatically expires and individual must reapply Residency Requirements: City of Greater Sudbury limits only
Application Process
  • Application forms must be completed and submitted to Greater Sudbury Transit
  • Application forms are available on the website or by calling 3-1-1
  • Eligibility Assessment Advisor will endeavor to process and reply to Applications for Eligibility within 14 days
  • Decisions can be appealed to the Hearing Committee of Greater Sudbury Council
