Child and Youth Worker Program


Description
  • Provides programs that promote health and wellness for children and youth of the community as well as families with young children
  • Offers a variety of services including educational sessions, workshops, group activities, videos and guest speakers, cooking classes and trips to participate in events outside of community
Services for children and youth include but are not limited to:
  • Community awareness such as family violence
  • Fundraising activities such as bottle drives and bake sales
  • Homework club
  • Nutrition
  • Parenting skills
  • Pre-natal/post-natal support
  • Self-esteem building
  • Socialization
  • Sports and physical activities (ie Zumba classes, swimming, exercise prorgams)
Programs can include:
  • Community Kitchen
  • Healthy Babies
  • Steps and Stages
Eligibility
Children and youth members (under 18 years of age) of Wahnapitae First Nation and families with children 0-6 years of age
Application Process
  • Requires registration for programs
  • Must pre-book space in van for transportation to other programs/events
