Vulnerable Persons Registry

  • Provides a free, voluntary and confidential service aimed at improving the safety of vulnerable citizens during emergencies
  • Collects key information of those living at home who would be at greater risk during emergencies such as seniors, persons with disabilities or persons who have critical medical needs such as dialysis and oxygen Provides Information securely to local Emergency Management Coordinators in order to be more informed when responding to large-scale emergencies where evacuation may be needed
  • Provides Information securely to local Fire, Police, and Emergency Medical Services in order to be more informed when responding to every day home emergencies (9-1-1) (Sault Ste Marie residents)
  • Provides Key information to the local utility company (PUC) and Canadian Red Cross if the registrant relies on electricity for life-sustaining equipment (Sault Ste Marie residents)
  • Equips registrants with information on how to prepare for emergencies
Hours of Operation
Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
  • Any resident within the Vulnerable Persons Registry jurisdiction without 24-hour support who experiences severe difficulty with any of the following: Mobility, vision, hearing, developmental/intellectual, cognitive or mental health
  • Any resident of Sault Ste. Marie, Prince Township, Dennis Township or Rankin Reserve living at home who needs any of the following: Electricity for life-sustaining equipment, Life support such as oxygen and/or dialysis
  • Anyone receiving care/assistance from a long-term care or supportive housing facility is not eligible to register
  • Anyone receiving parent/guardian support will not be able to register except children with intensive needs, for example requiring electricity for health sustaining devices
