Description
  • Functions as a secure custody and detention program for female youth
  • Determines whether the youth is in a medium security program or a maximum security program
  • Provides support programs and services to meet the physical, educational, psychological, social, recreational, cultural and spiritual needs of youth
  • Helps youth identify unmet needs, risk factors, and enhance protective factors so they make a successful transition back to the community
  • Provides access to cultural traditons and practices including sweat lodge ceremonies, feasts, pow wows and traditional teachings
  • Offers a school program that works in conjunction with the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board
Program components include:
  • Access to a Nurse Practitioner
  • Anger management
  • Case management
  • Community integration
  • Family intervention
  • Interpersonal problem-solving
  • Substance abuse
  • Victim awareness

Eligibility
  • Female youth 12-18 years of age involved with the justice system
  • Referred through Court order

Application Process
Placement at the facility is in a detention capacity while the individual's criminal charges are being dealt with or after the court process has finished and the youth has received a secure custody sentence
