Individuals aged 18 years of age and older with a criminal record
Application Process
Adult Criminal Records
  • Individuals 18 years of age and older with a criminal record in Canada
  • Must wait five years for a summary conviction or ten years for an indictable conviction following sentence completion before applying
Youth Criminal Records
  • Youth between 12 to 17 years of age, who were charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act do not need to apply for a pardon unless their youth record was maintained due to receiving an adult criminal record
  • In this case, the waiting period is the same as above; five to ten years after all of the sentences have been satisfied
Service ; Ontario Works may be able to assist with fee for services for individuals who are on social assistance
