Crisis Intervention


Description
  • Promotes the safety of each community through the emergency response plans coordinated by the area First Response teams
  • Facilitates intervention, counselling and support group services for community members who are experiencing some form of crisis
  • Acts as the liaison between the communities and Nishnawbe-Aski Nation (NAN) and Nodin Child & Family Services in regards to responding to regional crisis situations
  • Provides training to each community's crisis coordinators, volunteer crisis teams and community members
  • Provides support to community crisis coordinators with office procedures, documentation and reporting
Support services provided can include:
  • Debriefing and stabilization
  • Identification of issues and appropriate referrals to community and regional resources
  • Spiritual support

  • IFNA is a member of the Political Territorial Organization of Nishnawbe-Aski Nation (NAN)
  • IFNA member First Nation communities represent Treaty #3, Treaty #5, Treaty #9 and the Robinson-Superior Treaty in Northern Ontario
Hours of Operation
Mon-Fri 9 am-12 noon, 1 pm-5 pm
Eligibility
Must belong to one of the member First Nations within the Independent First Nations Alliance (IFNA)
Application Process
Services are delivered to community members at the local level (Band Office and Health Centres)
