  • Oversees the operations and maintenance of community infrastructure and related services
  • Maintains a public works garage
Performs a variety of tasks and maintenance operations including:
  • Road maintenance
  • Landscaping and community beautification
  • Street lighting
  • Maintenance of equipment and operation of the water treatment plant
  • Repairs and upkeep of community buildings and residential band housing
  • Snow removal
  • Upkeep of public spaces and grounds
  • Maintenance of on-reserve landfill site
Capital Planning
  • Provides assistance in project management services and community development and planning

  • Reserve is approx 67 km SW of Kenora, 200 km E of Winnipeg and straddles border between Ontario and Manitoba
  • Consists of 3 reserves: Shoal Lake 40, the main reserve (10 sq miles) containing community of Indian Bay, Manitoba; Shoal Lake 34B2 Indian Reserve; and Agency 30 which is shared with 12 other First Nations
  • Community cut off from mainland for many years until construction of Freedom Road began May 2017
  • Jun 3rd, 2019 marked the completion and opening of Freedom Road with Shoal Lake 40 finally connected to the TransCanada Hwy
