Description
  • Offers literacy and basic skills training, including numeracy, digital, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Helps learners prepare for employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education and greater independence
Comments
Offers educational courses one-on-one and in a group session either on-site, off-site, by e-learning, or video conference
Provides instruction on the following:
  • American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Activities of daily living, such as banking, public transportation
  • Computer skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving
  • English
  • Job search skills and employment preparation
  • Math
  • Use of communication devices and communication strategies

Eligibility
  • Individuals who are culturally deaf, oral deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing
  • Ontario residents 19 years and older, with reading, writing and math skills below Grade 12 of the Ontario Curriculum
  • Must have facility in English or in American Sign Language (ASL)
