Description
Provides a residential group care home and offers structured, culturally-sensitive care and client-centered therapeutic programming for children and youth of Northwestern Ontario
  • Facilitates structure and routine into daily group home schedules to promote stability
  • Participates as a training partner for Safe Management Group which teaches adults about youth behavior management techniques

Services include:
  • Individual professional counselling in areas that can include anger management, grief and loss, neglect, substance abuse, trauma and other conditions common to northern children
  • Family counselling to address family integration and support skills
  • Registered social worker
  • Educational support for youth enrolled in a choice of public, private and home schooling options
  • Life skills teaching in areas such as hygiene and personal care, banking, driving, home care and cooking
  • Cultural activities such as drumming, sweat lodges, smudging, crafts and access to an Elder
  • Food independence/security by teaching youth basic gardening skills in the local vegetable garden
  • Substance abuse awareness programs for individuals and groups
Eligibility
Youth with social, emotional and/or behavioural issues or at-risk because of domestic violence and other factors which have deemed them to be "hard-to-serve"

Application Process
Requires a placement referral form to be completed for a child in the care of a child protection agency with jurisdiction in Ontario
