Community Gardens
Rainy River District

  • Provides garden space that community members plant, tend and harvest together or individually for a fresh food supply
  • Growing season runs from May to September; dependent upon weather
  • All gardens coordinated through volunteer efforts and always looking for available volunteers
  • Accept donations of cash and gardening items including seeds, bulbs, perennials, fertilizers, mulching materials, equipment and supplies such as hand tools, garden hoses, wheel barrows, watering cans, flower pots, gloves and kneeling pads
  • Donates any surplus produce to local food programs

Emo Community Garden

  • Coordinated by Emo Lavallee Chapple Healthy Communities Coalition
  • Operates as one large sharing garden; open to all community members to work in and to pick produce for free as needed

Fort Frances Community Garden

Lillie Ave N, Fort Frances, Ont, (Between Fifth & Sixth Street West)

  • Operates as individual plots available for seasonal fee ($20 per plot)
  • Offers a children's gardening club with smaller plots available for fee ($10 per plot)
  • Raised garden beds available for those with physical limitations

Rainy River Community Garden

  • Operates as family sized plots, individual sized plots and raised garden beds available for seasonal fee
  • Storage shed and gardening tools/equipment on site for gardener use
