Description
  • Provides interpretation services to enable clear communication between Deaf and hearing people through sign language and spoken language
  • Offers on-site or video remote interpreting (VRI) services
  • Offers pre-booked daytime and emergency interpretation services
Will provide interpreters for various situations, including:
  • Job interviews
  • Medical appointments
  • Business meeting
  • Giving evidence in court
  • Arranging a mortgage
  • In crisis in a hospital, shelter, or police station

Eligibility
  • Individuals or agencies who require interpretation services between Deaf and hearing people
  • Emergency Interpretation Services: Individuals who are faced with sudden, unforeseen crises that requires immediate attention
Application Process
  • Appointments are to be made through the OIS Scheduling Centre in Ottawa
  • Requests may be made by TTY, phone, email, and Skype
  • Bookings should be request a minimum of three business days in advance
