Text with 9-1-1 service available in Elliot Lake, Blind River, the Municipality of Huron Shores, Mississauga First Nation, the Township of the North Shore, Spanish, Thessalon, Thessalon First Nation, Bruce Mines, Johnson Township, Tarbutt-Tarbutt Additional Township, and St Joseph Island to enable the deaf, deafened, hard of hearing or speech impaired (DHHSI) community to converse with 9-1-1 call centres using text messaging. You must register for T9-1-1 with your wireless service provider, and you must have a compatible cell phone. T9-1-1 should only be used for emergency situations that require a response from police, fire or emergency medical services.
