Description
Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community
  • Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills
  • Posts employment opportunities at office
  • Works to access funding for band-owned business ventures
  • Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business
  • Maintains local business directory
  • Responsible for development of plans for the use of traditional lands for community members
Small Business Loan ProgramProvides financial loans with flexibility in repayment schedules for:
  • Self-employment ventures
  • Home-based businesses
  • Enabling entrepreneurs to build equity and gain experience
  • Support to existing businesses that have difficulty obtaining financial assistance
Bingo Funds Distribution
  • Allocates the profits generated by the Nipissing First Nation Bingo to participating NFN charities through a request for funds
  • Amounts allocated are based on the specific needs of the charity and the NFN Finance Committee reviews each request and decides the allocation

Eligibility
Members of the Nipissing First NationSmall Business Loan ProgramApplicant must meet the following criteria:
  • Must not have any outstanding arrears on debts with Nipissing First Nation
  • Must have been denied credit or have not been provided with sufficient credit for the proposed business by at least 1 financial institution
  • Must show an equity investment in the proposed business
  • Must demonstrate the ability to repay the loan
Bingo Funds Distribution
  • Must be a Nipissing First Nation registered charity
Application Process
Small Business Loan Program
  • Must provide a letter of intent which proves the eligibility requirements are met and provides a description of the proposed new or expanded business
  • Must pay the processing fee
  • Must submit a formal written proposal which includes a business plan and all financial information
  • If proposal is accepted by Loan Committee, it is forwarded to Chief and Council for final approval
Bingo Funds Distribution
  • Must submit a Request for Bingo Funds form which can be found on the website
