- Functions as a volunteer group dedicated to the collection and preservation of area history, historic materials, pictures and artifacts for central Manitoulin
- Operates and houses collections at the Central Manitoulin Pioneer Museum
- Facilitates museum tours and operates a gift shop at the Welcome Centre
- Conducts group historical walking tours within the community
- Coordinates community events/activities such as music festivals, sports days and Heritage Days
- Collaborates with other groups to offer creative writing contests for area school children
- Displays and sells books, historical maps and other items at the summer market
- Holds various fundraising events such as quilt raffles and fall apple bake sales
- Publishes an annual newsletter
