- Description
- Provides educational services and supports to elementary, secondary and post-secondary school students
- Administers Shawanosowe School and Maamwe Kendaasing Childcare Centre, renamed Maamwe Kendaasing Early Learning and Innovation Centre
- Coordinates bus transportation arrangements for children attending AB Ellis Public School, Sacred Heart Elementary School and Espanola High School
- Collaborates with the regional Kenjgewin Teg Educational Institute (KTEI) about educational services
- Provides tuition sponsorship, student activity fees and one-time lock fee for students attending high school outside of community, mostly at Espanola High School
- Provides academic assistance to high school students which may include counselling, homework club, providing references, and/or classroom management
- Determines funding eligibility and provides financial assistance to post-secondary students
- Provides advocacy and liaison services, counselling and other support services throughout the school year
- Provides assistance with admissions criteria and applying/filling out application forms for colleges and universities
- Recommends education policy amendments as necessary to meet student needs

- Members of Whitefish River First Nation 4 years of age and older
Post Secondary Program- Registered members of Whitefish River First Nation both on/off-reserve
- Must have been a resident of Canada for a minimum of 12 consecutive months prior to application
- Must be continuing education at a post-secondary institution
- Financial assistance limited by available funding

- All continuing students must reapply each year and provide transcripts from the previous year
- Photocopy of recent status card
- Completed post-secondary application package available at Education Department
- Letter of acceptance from post-secondary institution
- Transcripts from high school and any previous academic institutions
- Detailed letter of intent with program information
- Copy of voided cheque or bank information
- Signed student contract
