Youth and Elders Centre
- Description
- Operates a drop-in centre for community youth and seniors
- Provides social, recreational, and therapeutic activities for older adults and adults with disabilities in a group setting during the day
- Serves as respite for family caregivers
- Provides escort and transportation to other First Nation communities to attend elders functions
- Coordinates a Meals on Wheels program for Mnaamodzawin Health Services
- Hosts activities and events for youth
- Includes a large kitchen and living room area
- Coffee and socialization
- Craft making
- Exercise programs on individual basis
- Group exercise programs such as urban poling and VON Canada Smart Program Exercises
- Lunch & Learn sessions on monthly basis with a variety of topics and presenters
- Television viewing with others
- Eligibility
- Centre open to members of Whitefish River First Nation of all ages but programs are targeted for youth and elders
