Diabetes Program

Provides education and services for the prevention, management and treatment of diabetes
  • Works to reduce the number of avoidable complications that can arise from uncontrolled diabetes
  • Collaborates with Mnaamodzawin Health Services to provide consultations with the Diabetes Wellness Team
  • Participates in the annual National Aboriginal Diabetes Awareness Walk sponsored by Mnaadmodzawin Health Services
  • Advises on developing and implementing an approach to care and management of diabetes
  • Coordinates educational activities including diabetes management courses, foot care sessions and full-day diabetes conferences
  • Promotes healthy nutrition through community activities and articles about diabetes education and prevention
  • Assists individuals in finding appropriate services
