- Provides alternative education for adult community members to obtain a high school diploma
Program objectives are as follows:- Enable students to obtain secondary school credit courses in their home community
- Provide an alternative way to earn a provincial high school diploma (Ontario Secondary School Diploma OSSD)
- Promote First Nations culture
- A wide range of course selection delivered through Independent Learning Courses (ILCs), the Cooperative Education (Co-op) Program, Basic Skills upgrading, life skills and field trips
- Academic counselling and referrals to appropriate agencies as needed
- Participation in the mandatory Ontario Secondary Student Literacy Test (OSSLT) program
- All necessary school supplies
- Counselling for post-secondary education planning
- Individual career planning with Ontario Works representative
- Transportation for any student living out of a reasonable walking range to program through Ontario Works
- Subsidized childcare, only for the hours a student is in school through Ontario Works
- Eligibility
- Members of Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve wishing to obtain an Ontario Secondary School diploma (OSSD) and/or upgrade education
- Student must be 22 years of age or older to register and have been out of school for a minimum of 6 months
