Homemakers Program


Description
Provides short-term or on-going support services to assist elders to remain in their homes as long as possible
  • Provides assistance with household chores, light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and needs in the home as they arise
  • Provides childcare in the home when the primary caregiver faces unexpected short term illness or hospitalization
  • Acts as respite for informal caregivers such as extended family
  • Acts as a social support for isolated or ill individuals

  • Homemakers do not administer medication of any kind

Eligibility
Members of M'Chigeeng First Nation who are frail, elderly, and/or disabled who wish to remain in their home with ongoing or short-term home support services during periods of incapacitation or convalescence
Application Process
  • Requires completion of a needs assessment based on monthly income
  • Intake with Ontario Works department
