Weenusk First Nation

Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the First Nation
  • Serviced by air through the Peawanuck Airport for passengers, mail and freight via Timmins and Moosonee twice per week
  • Provides a Northern General Store and Louie's Store
  • Offers banking services via fax with CIBC and Scotiabank located at the Northern Store
  • Provides a Band Office which is co-located with the Nishnawbi-Aski Police Service and Canada Post Corporation services
  • Offers a few businesses including Louie Chookomolin Diversified Products, Maggie Gull's Bed & Breakfast, Peawanuck Petroleum and Annual Barge Services
  • Maintains recreation facilities including two ballparks, a playground, outdoor skating rink, a multi-purpose room and a drop-in centre
  • Participates in the Junior Canadian Rangers Program for youth (12-18 years) which teaches various skills including but not limited to first aid, using rifles safely, hunting and fishing, Native customs and traditions, healthy living, staying in school and drug and alcohol abuse awareness
