Description
Offers a program which focuses on learning and preserving the traditional Anishinaabe language
  • Coordinates seven 9-day language immersion camps up to a total of 84 adults
  • Offers specific traditional activities from which participants choose 3 activities for duration of 6-month program
  • Carries out each activity (ie fishing camps) under the guidance of Elders speaking the language
  • Documents each camp for use as language resource material
Comments
All communities are part of Treaty #3 except Lac des Mille Lacs which is part of the Robinson-Superior Treaty
Eligibility
Must belong to one of the member First Nations in the Bimose Tribal Council territory
Application Process
  • Arrangements and application for camps can be made through Bimose Education Department
  • Requires wrap-up program evaluation
