- Description
- Establishes and undertakes programs designed to further the conservation, restoration, development and management of renewable natural resources, including:
Permits and Regulations- Provides land use and resource management planning input and review
- Monitors development associated with related legislation
- Ensures that homes and people are protected from the threats of flooding and erosion
- Provides environmental education programs to classes from JK to Grade 12 primarily in the outdoors at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area
- Offers a wilderness setting, a man-made lake and pond, scenic lookouts, a self guided nature trail, numerous wetland areas, hiking trails, bird watching areas, and snow shoeing and cross-country ski trails in winter
- Provides a multipurpose Nature Chalet
- Offers a week-long conservation day camp which gives children an appreciation of the natural environment and an opportunity to participate in many outdoor activities
- Wilderness experience provides swimming, canoeing, wilderness survival, hikes, games and crafts
- Outdoor Explorer provides activities such as plant and animal studies, nature hikes and talks, pond study, canoeing, swimming and many more fun games and recreational activities
