Description
Develops and implements social, health, economic, cultural and recreational programs and activities to meet the needs of Aboriginal people in Northern Ontario
Offers a variety of culturally appropriate programs and services including the following:
  • Aboriginal Diabetes Prevention Program (ADP)
  • Aboriginal Head Start Program (AHS)
  • Community Action Program for Children (CAP-C)
  • Community Wellness Program (CWW)
  • Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC)
  • Long Term Care Program (LTC)
Site locations and programs offered at each Site include:
  • Chapleau (CWW, CAP-C, LTC)
  • Cochrane (CWW)
  • Foleyet (CAP-C, LTC)
  • Kapuskasing (CAP-C)
  • Kirkland Lake (LTC)
  • Moosonee (ADP, Head Start, HBHC)
  • Sturgeon Falls (HBHC)
  • Sudbury (CWW, HBHC)

  • Governed by a Board of Directors consisting of eight members from Northern Ontario
  • APANO also offers a CAP-C program in Renfrew near Ottawa

Mon-Fri 8:30 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4:30 pm
Eligibility
Focus is for Off-reserve Status, Non-Status, Inuit and Métis peoples but encourages participation by Non-Native communities
