Description
Provides services that promote physical and mental health for community members
  • Offers a health centre consisting of a multi-disciplinary team that provides health prevention, promotion and non-urgent treatment
  • Focuses on a holistic approach offering both western and traditional healing choices
  • Provides health awareness, skills development, education and prevention workshops and seminars
  • Coordinates clinics in areas including Foot Care, Blood Pressure, Immunization, Sexual Health and Communicable Diseases
  • Offers diabetes education and management counselling
  • Provides mental health counselling
  • Coordinates walking programs, sharing circles, community meals, and other community events such as health bazaars
  • Liaises with the Aboriginal Health Access Centre called Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre (SKHC) in Sudbury to provide services in community
Addresses individual health care needs by providing:
  • Intake services to determine health care needs of individual
  • Referrals to appropriate health care providers based on information in the intake assessment
  • Advocacy on behalf of individual with other health professionals
  • Coordination of one-on-one pre-natal care with the Community Health Nurse
  • Prenatal and postnatal support and visits
  • Home visits to the sick, elderly, new mothers and persons with health care needs
  • Child development screening
  • Blood work, blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring
  • Massage therapy appointments
