Waabnoong Bemjiwang Association of First Nations
Tribal Council

  • Serves as a non-political Chiefs Council which provides support and advisory services to 6 First Nation communities
  • Advises and assists member First Nations in planning, developing and administering programs within their own community
  • Works to enhance the overall management skills and opportunities of the area First Nations in their quest to become self-sufficient
  • Consists of Chiefs and Councils from each community
  • Delivers programs and services through local community government
  • Provides services that respect and reflect the Anishinabe cultural beliefs, traditions and practices

  • Administration and Finance
  • Environmental
  • Fire Protection
  • Housing
  • Infrastructure
  • Operations and Maintenance
  • Waabnoong Bemjiwang Association of First Nations (WBAFN) is a member of the political territorial organization Union of Ontario Indians (UOI)
  • Serves communities located in the Robinson-Huron Treaty and the Williams Treaty
  • Collective on-reserve population of WBAFN which is approx 1,911 people, includes First Nation members in the Districts of Parry Sound, Sudbury and Nipissing
  • Waabnoong Bemjiwang is Ojibway for waters flowing from the east
Must belong to one of the member First Nations within the Waabnoong Bemjiwang Association of First Nations (WBAFN) Territory
