Midwifery Services

  • Provides primary maternity care to low risk women, including prenatal, labour, birth and postnatal
  • Provides clients with all the necessary information regarding their care so that informed decisions can be made
  • Provides skilled physical and emotional support during labour
  • Provides clinical monitoring after birth, in addition to continued emotional support, information and guidance
  • Offers a choice of birthplace, either in the home or at the hospital
  • Works with other health professionals to share care of clients if concerns arise during pregnancy, labour, birth or postpartum
  • Offers postnatal visits to examine breastfeeding, the baby's weight, the mother's physical and emotional well being and to discuss family planning and the first year of feeding
  • Offers resources in the office including books, pamphlets and handouts
