Description
Oversees the operations and maintenance of community infrastructure and related services
  • Provides public works services to the 4 reserves of Batchewana First Nation (Goulais Bay Reserve, Rankin Reserve, Obadjiwan Reserve and Whitefish Island Reserve) through varied arrangements
Performs a variety of tasks and maintenance operations including:
  • Road maintenance
  • Landscaping and community beautification
  • Brushing services
  • Street lighting
  • Repairs and upkeep of community buildings and residential homes
  • Snow removal
  • Upkeep of public spaces and grounds including 4 public parks
  • Management and rental of Old Hall and Goulais Complex
Capital Planning
  • Provides assistance in project management services and community development and planning
  • Assists with subdivision development plan and residential lot development plans
Additional services:
  • Curbside garbage collection is provided on all 4 reserves by private contractors
  • Coordinates a curbside blue box recycling program on Rankin Reserve
  • Cemetery upkeep and maintenance
  • Water and sewer in Goulais Bay and Obadjiwan are through private wells and septic fields
  • Water and sewer in Rankin Reserve is connected to the city system of Sault Ste Marie
