Description
Offers an eye care program in partnership with McMaster Children's Hospital to connect children in the Weeneebayko region along the James and Hudson Bay coast remotely to eye examinations; enables children and family members to remain in home communities for routine vision care
  • Provides regular vision screening
  • Identifies vision problems
  • Offers vision treatment
  • Supports prevention of vision loss
Custom-made training modules and equipment are currently being developed by McMaster to send to communities as an on-going part of the project to allow for eye care to transition to a self-sustained service which can be offered by the communities themselves

Children and youth 6 months-18 years of age living along the James Bay and Hudson Bay coast
Application Process
  • Call local Health clinic or Nursing Station to book appointment
  • For eye treatment that cannot be offered locally, children are referred outside their communities including to Timmins and McMaster Children's Hospital
