- Description
- Represents the community in all lands and resources initiatives
- Oversees the Land Code which is in the development stages and will give M'Chigeeng First Nation full responsibility for their own land management
- Liaises with all companies undertaking resource development in traditional MChigeeng First Nation territory including mining developments, forestry projects and fisheries projects
- Participates in negotiations and agreements with resource developers to ensure M'Chigeeng First Nation is fairly included in benefits
- Consults with target groups who have an interest in land and resource issues such as mining
- Develops and implements a consultation protocol for negotiations related to Lands and Resource issues
- Advises community members on Lands and Resources issues via meetings, website or correspondence
- Provides leadership for the development of a Land Use Plan for the community
- Assists in the development of the Community Capital Plan
- Cooperates with the Housing Department for allocation of land to M'Chigeeng First Nation registered members who wish to build on territorial land
