Description
Supports Indigenous youth in the transition from the child welfare system into adulthood by providing the following services:
  • Assistance for youth to develop and pursue their goals
  • Support to identify, access, and navigate adult service systems relevant to youth's specific needs
  • Culturally appropriate workshops on healthy living, self esteem, cultural identity, and other related topics
  • Assistance for youth to access existing supports and resources within their communities including:
    • Education resources
    • Employment services and training
    • Health and mental health services
    • Housing supports
    • Legal services
    • Life skills training (ie financial management, household management)
Eligibility
Indigenous youth transitioning from the child welfare system into adulthood and meet the following criteria:
  • Were subject to a Crown wardship order, legal custody order under section 65.2 of the CFSA, or formal customary care agreement immediately prior to the youthÂ’s 18th birthday or
  • Were eligible for support under the Renewed Youth Support Policy (RYS) at 16 and/or 17 years of age, whether or not the youth actually received RYS
