Description
  • Assists homeowners with repairs, including accessibility, health and safety issues, and energy efficiency in the form of an interest-free forgivable loan
  • Provides up to $25,000 in forgivable loan assistance
Eligibility
Individuals must:
  • be 18 years of age or older and a Canadian Citizen or Landed immigrant
  • own a home in the District of Nipissing that serves as their sole and principle residence
  • be at a low to moderate income level

Eligible repairs may include:
  • Structural (foundations, roofs, walls, floors, ceilings)
  • Electrical systems
  • Plumbing
  • Heating and energy conservation systems
  • Doors and windows
  • Vents, louvers
  • Fire safety
  • Septic systems and well water
  • Improved accessibility such as ramps, handrails, chair and bath lifts, height adjustment for countertops and cues for doorbells/fire alarms
  • Creation of secondary dwellings (additional approvals are required)
Application Process
  • Apply through the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board
  • A completed application form and supporting documents are required
  • Repairs must begin within 120 days of project approval
  • Loan forgiveness period is 10 years
