Description
  • Provides financial and employment assistance to individuals and families for basic needs
  • Provides opportunities for individuals on social assistance to contribute to the community
  • Stresses that it is mandatory to participate in designated activities to be eligible for benefits
  • Provides referrals to other programs and services
  • Accepts and processes applications (Social Housing, CHIPI, LEAP) and other services administered through the Fort Frances office
  • Administered by the Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board in Fort Frances

Employment Resource Centre provides:
  • Access to fax machine, Internet, phone, photocopier and other items required to conduct job searches
  • An employment assessment to determine gaps in individual's employability
  • Assistance in completing resumes
  • Referrals to training programs at the Adult Learning Centre
  • Referrals to other supports such as Atikokan Employment Centre, Community Counselling and Atikokan High School

Mon-Fri 8 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4 pmIntegrated Caseworker available: Mon-Fri 8 am-11:45 am, 1 pm-3:45 pm
Eligibility
Individuals and families in financial need
Individuals must:
  • Be a resident of Ontario
  • Not have sufficient finances to pay for food and housing costs
  • Be willing to take part in activities that will help find a job
  • Sign a Participation Agreement
Employment Resource Centre
  • Must be recipient of ODSP/OW assistance

Application Process
Individuals can apply online or by contacting the office
The following documentation is required to complete application:
  • Copy of Canada Child Benefit statement (for children under 18 years of age)
  • Copy of mortgage or rental agreement; all shelter expenses
  • Health card
  • Information about assets owned, such as a home, boats, vehicles, bank accounts, Registered Retirement Savings Plan
  • Information about other income and money, such as a pension
  • Proof of identity, such as birth certificate
  • Proof of immigration status, if required
  • Proof of Social Insurance Number
  • Recent bank statement for all bank accounts
  • Record of Employment and/or most recent pay stubs
