Description
Manages a secure custody facility for Aboriginal youth in conflict with the law
  • Aims to reconnect youth with the Aboriginal heritage and traditions to enhance their capacity to make better choices after the transition to community life
  • Accommodates 12 youth with separate areas for 8 males and 4 females
Provides the following culturally appropriate rehabilitation programs and services:
  • A ceremonial space to learn and practice cultural ceremonies
  • An educational program to help youth further academic studies and develop skills
  • Traditional teachings and Aboriginal history
  • Anger management sessions and counselling
  • Life skills education and training
Hours of Operation
Office Mon-Thu 8:30 am-4:30 pm, Fri 8:30 am-3 pmServices Mon-Sun 24 hours
Eligibility
Aboriginal youth from Northwestern Ontario in conflict with the law and are being detained or serving sentences
