Description
Delivers medical transportation services and assistance in making medical appointment arrangements
  • Provides transportation to medical appointments within the community
  • Provides transportation and/or assistance from/to Pic River First Nation to medical appointments (doctor, dentist, optometrist, specialist, physiotherapy) in Marathon
  • Offers transportation to the local Greyhound bus station for out-of-town appointments
  • Services are provided by way of a wheel-chair accessible medical van

Eligibility
Members of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg (formerly known as Ojibways of the Pic River First Nation) and any residents living in the community who require assistance with medical transportation due to:
  • Illness, injury or age or
  • Do not have a vehicle or vehicle is otherwise not available
Application Process
Contact Health Centre reception during regular hours to make arrangements; after hours call Medical Van at 807-228-3524
  • Requires written proof of medical appointment and pre-authorization by Health Centre
  • Requires 24 hour advance booking; exceptions made for emergencies
  • Advance cancellation recommended
