Description
Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community
  • Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills
  • Posts employment opportunities in office and on website
  • Works to access funding for band-owned business ventures
  • Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business
  • Hosts economic development strategic planning sessions
  • Maintains local business directory
  • Assists in the development of plans for the use of traditional lands for community members
Economic initiatives Pic Mobert First Nation is involved with include:
  • Pic Mobert Sawmill Corp, a subsidiary that holds the First Nation's shares in White River Forest Products Ltd
  • Outland Joint Venture, a partnership in the operation of construction work camps
  • Kabi Joint Venture, a partnership for civil construction works
  • Belisle Joint Venture, a partnership for the operation and management of heavy equipment and related services
  • Business advisory in forestry and harvesting operations
  • Construction and eventual operation of the Gitchi Animki Hydroelectric Project on White River (ground breaking took place in Oct 2013)
