Description
Operates a landfill and recycling program

Recycling
Offers recycling of the following items:
  • glass bottles and jars
  • tin food and beverage cans, aluminum food and beverage cans, aluminum trays and foil (cleaned)
  • #1 and #2 plastic food and beverage containers
  • cardboard and boxboard
  • newspapers, flyers, magazines, catalogues, telephone books, paperback books, hard cover books, writing paper, and envelopes

Note: cannot accept motor oil bottles, pesticide and herbicide containers, margarine, yogurt, and ice cream tubs, 20 litre pails, tissues, paper towels, drinking glasses, window pane glass, ceramics, or china, light bulbs, and coat hangers
Comments
Recycling can be dropped off at the following locations:
Township disposal site (during hours of operation)
Hwy 17 East Trading Post at the St Joe Island turn-off
Echo Bay Environmental Centre beside the Loonie
Laird Township has an agreement with the City of Sault Ste Marie as of 2016 to allow access for its residents to the Household Hazardous Waste Depot - no gate fee for Laird residents
