Ganawendaasowin Assessment Program

Provides services and supports for Indigenous youth struggling with substance abuse, mental health, or behavioral concerns

Assessment Program includes:
  • Pre-treatment, assessment and stabilization at a three-bed facility focused on alcohol and drug addictions withdrawal
  • A 30-day program with 24-hour supervision
  • Mental health counselling
  • On-site telemedicine program for video consultations with specialists who provide further diagnosis and treatment suggestions
  • Referrals to the Ganawendaasowin Treatment Program (GTP) after completion of the assessment program
Assessment facility is located at 601 Victoria Ave, Fort Frances
  • Youth with alcohol and/or substance abuse issues combined with mental health issues and related behavioral, social and/or emotional difficulties
  • Must be a member of any of the 10 First Nations communities in the Rainy Lake Tribal Region either on/off-reserve
NOT ELIGIBLE: Youth displaying severe mental health, behavioral and/or solvent abuse issues

Application Process
  • Program open to referrals from any source; upon request a referral package is sent out, reviewed upon return and interested parties notified of acceptance/non-acceptance into program
  • Intake assessment required
