Description
Provides a tax credit and water credit to eligible residential property owners
Hours of Operation
Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Eligibility
Low-income Seniors
  • individuals 65 years or older
  • must be receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) and total household income must be less than $38,539
Low-income Persons with Disabilities
  • must be receiving ODSP/CPP Disability amount and have a total household income of $38,539 or less
All Applicants:
  • Must be owners of residential property within the city of Thunder Bay for a period of one (or more) year(s) preceding the application
  • Must be the applicant's principal residence
  • Tax and water accounts cannot be in arrears when applying
  • All co-owners must qualify under eligibility criteria
Application Process
  • Pick up application at City Hall Revenue Division, or Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre or download from City website
  • Applications and supporting documentation must be received in writing by July 31st of the year
  • Must apply each year to be considered for this program
The following supporting documentation will be required:
  • Seniors: proof of receipt of GIS
  • Persons with Disabilities: Proof of receipt of ODSP or CPP Disability amount
  • Each owner and each spouse of an owner must submit copy of previous year's Notice of Assessment
