Support and Counselling

Please note: The Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay office is closed to the public due to COVID-19 social distancing orders until further notice.

We are working hard to ensure we are still offering support to the community. All staff are available remotely though business phone number and email within regular business hours.

  • Provides support to persons with dementia and their family and friends
  • Offers individual and family counselling in the individual's home or in other desired locations
  • Facilitates a number of support groups on a regular basis
  • Provides individual and system-wide advocacy
CARERS Program
  • Provides eight group sessions focused on the development of effective problem solving skills and tools which help to improve communication and manage dementia-related behaviour
  • Guidance and coaching is offered by clinical staff

Evening and weekend appointments when required
  • Individuals with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias
  • Family, friends, and other partners in care for a person with dementia
  • Individuals concerned about memory loss or other cognitive changes
